Microdermabrasion and Chemical Peels

Our highly trained and experienced Aestheticians perform Microdermabrasion, a popular procedure using highly controlled vacuum and pressure to move microscopically abrasive crystals over the surface of the skin. This action causes little or no discomfort while it gently removes the outer layer of the skin. By repeating this process over the course of several weeks or months, the younger, softer skin moves to the surface, revealing significant textural and color changes. The reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles makes Microdermabrasion an excellent non-surgical alternative to younger looking skin. Additionally, Microdermabrasion may improve absorption of topical acne medications and may be suggested for certain patients.

Various chemical peels are used to reduce the undesirable effects of exposure to the sun and environment, and signs of aging. These and other treatments, including facials and acne extractions, are skillfully performed by our Aestheticians under the supervision of our medical staff. Our physicians work closely with the Aestheticians to assess patients' needs and skin problems and refer the appropriate patients for treatments when it would be beneficial. This team effort between our medical and nursing staff and our aesthetician ensures that only optimal, cost-effective treatments are utilized.

If you are interested in Microdermabrasion or in how combining this procedure with either Botox® or chemical peels can enhance your appearance, call (972) 386-7546, extension 255 or email cosmetics@texasderm.com.

Cosmetic Products

The physicians at Texas Dermatology Associates take an active role in meeting the dermatological needs of patients. They evaluate the patient's skin type and specific problems and listen to their concerns. The doctors often make recommendations for the use of cosmetic products based on what products may accomplish the desired result. The cosmetic products available in the practice are ones that have been scientifically tested and shown to have a cosmetic benefit to the patient. Many of these are not available in retail stores, spas or salons.

Due to the national reputation of our physicians and their research interactions with the pharmaceutical industry, we are able to select for our patients only the highest quality products.

Often patients will benefit from the use of products both before and after laser treatments. Our physicians will guide the direction in the care of the patient's skin.

We carry Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA's), which are glycolic acid formulations used to perform superficial peels that affect the epidermis and the upper regions of the papillary dermis. AHA's are used to treat a wide range of photodamage, from solar elastosis (sun damage) and fine wrinkles to pigmentation irregularities. Patients with acne and folliculitis (clogged, inflamed pores) have also greatly benefited from treatment. AHA's are formulated into cleansers, toners or lotions, moisturizers, night creams, blemish control gels/creams, facial scrubs and masks.

Topical Vitamin-C Formulations are among the best selling of our product lines. These botanically enriched enhancers and moisturizers have been shown to help achieve firmer, smoother looking skin. They also help to replenish your skin's moisture. Each product contains a unique blend of botanical extracts, which help return your skin's natural healthy glow and restore a youthful, radiant appearance.

TNS Recovery Complex® is a bioengineered product using sophisticated medical technology. It contains naturally found proteins, amino acids and antioxidants that our bodies use to stimulate the skin to repair itself when damaged by the sun. Visible results are seen in as little as one week. Measurable, scientific results show younger-looking skin with improved elasticity and a decrease in age spots and pigmentation in 90 days.

We carry mild cleansers and sunscreens that all patients, male and female, will find useful and beneficial. We also carry safe self-tanning lotions for the face and body that help you achieve an even, natural-looking tan without exposure to the sun's harmful rays.

Our patients appreciate the convenience of having doctor-recommended products available, eliminating time-consuming and often unsuccessful trips to the store in search of products.
